Wadhawan Brothers Caught Enjoying Luxuries Outside Jail Under Medical Pretext

A shocking investigation has exposed how Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan, the former DHFL promoters accused in a ₹34,614 crore bank fraud, managed to bypass jail restrictions and enjoy special privileges under the guise of medical check-ups.
Despite being lodged in Mumbai’s Taloja Central Jail, the Wadhawan brothers were seen leaving for government hospital visits, only to hold meetings with family and business associates in hospital parking lots. An exclusive investigation captured them sharing food, drinking coffee, using mobile devices, and even signing official documents—all while being escorted by police officers who were also treated to snacks.
On August 7, Kapil Wadhawan was taken to KEM Hospital for a medical check-up, but instead of following prison protocols, he was found in a hospital parking lot where private cars and family members awaited him. Just two days later, Dheeraj Wadhawan followed a similar pattern, leaving jail for JJ Hospital under the same pretext.
The investigation revealed that these “medical visits” were happening frequently, with hospital and jail records confirming their suspiciously regular outings. A court had earlier denied interim medical bail to Dheeraj Wadhawan, citing concerns that he had previously misused bail to conduct financial transactions, including selling off expensive paintings in 2021.
This isn’t the first time the Wadhawan brothers have flouted rules. In 2020, they were caught violating pandemic lockdown restrictions by traveling from Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar with a group of 20 people, using a special permission letter issued by a senior Maharashtra police officer.
The latest revelations raise serious questions about jail management and police involvement in enabling these privileges for high-profile inmates.
