UFC 307 Recap: Pereira vs. Rountree Battle Unfolded
Alex Pereira def. Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 at Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City, USA: The highly anticipated fight between Alex Pereira and Khalil Roundtree exceeded expectations, offering more than just value for the time and cost of admission ticket. It was an absolute spectacle.
In the first two rounds, it seemed like an upset was on the horizon, as Alex Pereira struggled to penetrate Khalil Roundtree’s defense, largely due to Khalil’s swift and effective combinations.
Khalil appeared quicker and more agile, delivering powerful strikes that felt like bombs . By end of 2nd round, apart from Alex’s low leg calf kick , the only thing which was going in Alex’s favor was that Khalil was breathing heavily , signaling that he might struggle to endure all five rounds.
At the end of 3rd round, Khalil’s corner advised him that he lost the round and he should refine his combinations, insisting that he could land a decisive strike by the third punch.
This bout was the first real test for Alex Pereira in his third title defence, as his journey had been relatively smooth up until this point.
Alex remained composed throughout, carefully waiting for the right opportunities without rushing. However, he was caught on several occasions, even being knocked down in the third round. His main weapon against Khalil was his relentless calf kicks, supplemented by occasional high head kicks. These attacks gradually softened Khalil’s defense, allowing Alex to land more strikes as the third and fourth rounds progressed.
In the end, Khalil was thoroughly beaten by Alex Pereira’s precise strikes and a powerful knee-head kick. It was clear that there was a significant skill and experience gap between the two fighters. The damage Khalil sustained was severe, arguably more than he was compensated for.

My humble advise to UFC and Dana white in particuar that they should take care when arranging matchups, ensuring that the skill level, experience, and rankings are more evenly balanced, particularly in the heavier weight classes
