Two Arrested After Shooting Incident at Petrol Pump in Northeast Delhi, One Injured
NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, two individuals have been arrested for allegedly opening fire at a petrol pump in the Gokalpuri area of northeast Delhi, leaving one employee injured. The incident took place during the early hours of November 16, when chaos erupted at the pump.
According to police officials, the assailants, who arrived on motorbikes, fired more than a dozen rounds—reportedly over 16 shots—aimed at the petrol station. The sudden burst of gunfire led to panic among the employees and nearby residents, who were jolted awake by the sound of shots.
A pump supervisor was caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries during the attack. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed, but he is said to be in a stable condition.
Authorities believe the incident might have been an attempt to intimidate the staff, possibly linked to an ongoing dispute or an extortion attempt, though the exact motive is still under investigation.
“Swift action by the police led to the arrest of the two suspects within a few hours of the incident,” said a senior police officer. The police are continuing their investigation to ascertain whether more people were involved in the attack and to uncover the full motive behind the shooting.
The incident has raised concerns among local residents, who are calling for heightened security measures in the area to prevent such violent attacks.
