Tragic Tesla Fire Claims 4 Indian Lives in Canada, Survivor Rescued by Brave Bystander

A heartbreaking accident in Toronto, Canada, claimed the lives of four Indian friends on October 24, raising questions about Tesla’s safety design. The victims, identified as Ketaba Gohil (29), her brother Neelraj (25), Jayrajsingh Sisodia, and Digvijay Patel—all from Gujarat—were unable to escape the burning Tesla Model Y.
The sole survivor, a young woman in her 20s, was rescued by Rick Harper, a courageous Canada Post employee. Harper described the intense scene, recounting how he used a metal pole to smash a car window after the electronic doors failed to open. “I would assume the young lady tried to open the door from the inside, but she couldn’t get out,” Harper said. As thick smoke engulfed the car, he managed to pull the woman to safety, unaware that others were still trapped inside.
The tragedy has sparked scrutiny of Tesla’s design, which relies on electronic buttons instead of traditional handles to unlock doors. In emergencies, the system’s dependence on power can pose fatal risks.
Investigations into the crash continue, as the families and community mourn the devastating loss of four lives and advocate for improved safety measures in electric vehicles.
