Tragic Accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway Claims Lives of Five Doctors

In a heartbreaking incident, five young doctors lost their lives, and one remains critically injured after their Scorpio SUV collided with a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway early Tuesday morning. The victims, all postgraduate trainees from Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, were returning from a wedding function in Lucknow when the tragedy occurred.
The accident took place around 3:30 am when the driver of the SUV reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle lost control, broke through the divider, and crashed into an oncoming truck in the opposite lane. The impact was so severe that the SUV was reduced to mangled remains.
The deceased have been identified as Dr. Aniruddh Verma, Dr. Santosh Kumar Maurya, Dr. Jaiveer Singh, Dr. Arun Kumar, and Dr. Nardev. One critically injured individual is currently undergoing treatment for severe head injuries.
Priyanka Bajpai, Circle Officer of Tirwa, confirmed the details of the crash, saying, “The Scorpio lost balance, crossed the divider, and collided with a truck. All passengers were doctors or medical technicians associated with Saifai Hospital. Families of the victims have been informed, and an investigation is underway.”
This tragic loss has left the medical fraternity and their loved ones in deep mourning. The incident underscores the dangers of fatigued driving and the need for greater road safety awareness.
