Tragic Accident in Kerala: Five MBBS Students Lose Lives in Devastating Crash

In a heart-wrenching accident on Monday night in Kerala’s Alappuzha district, five young MBBS students lost their lives when their car collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus. The tragic incident occurred around 10 pm near Kalarcode as the group was traveling to Kochi.
According to police reports, the accident happened when the car, attempting to overtake another vehicle, lost control, skidded, and crashed into the oncoming bus. The impact completely destroyed the vehicle, trapping the occupants inside. Rescue teams had to break the car apart to retrieve the victims.
The group of students, all in their first year of medical school at a government medical college, were traveling together in a Tavera. Of the seven occupants, three students died on the spot, and two others succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. The remaining two passengers were hospitalized, with one reportedly in critical condition.
Eyewitness accounts and the bus driver’s statement revealed that the car was speeding. Despite efforts to avoid the collision, the crash was unavoidable due to the car’s loss of control. Local authorities, including Alappuzha Municipal Vice-Chairman P.S.M. Hussain, confirmed that CCTV footage from the area would be reviewed to understand the sequence of events better.
This tragic accident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of reckless driving and the devastating consequences it can have.
