Tragedy Strikes Before Wedding: Young Woman Dies in Roller Coaster Accident at Delhi Amusement Park

What was meant to be a joyful day out for a young couple turned into a devastating tragedy, as 24-year-old Priyanka lost her life in a horrific roller coaster accident at the Fun n Food Water Park near Kapashera, South West Delhi. Just months away from her wedding, Priyanka was visiting the amusement park with her fiancé, Nikhil, when a ride malfunctioned, leading to a fatal fall.

According to police reports, the couple had reached the park around 1 PM on Thursday. After enjoying the water rides in the first half of the day, they moved to the amusement section by evening. At around 6:15 PM, they boarded a swing-style roller coaster ride. As the swing reached its highest point, a structural support gave way. Priyanka, who was seated in the ride, fell from a significant height as the stand collapsed beneath her.

Nikhil rushed her to a hospital, but despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries. She had suffered multiple traumatic injuries, including severe wounds to her legs, forearm, and knee. Police later arrived at the hospital to collect the medical report and conducted a post-mortem before handing her body over to her grieving family.

Priyanka had been engaged to Nikhil since January 2023, with their wedding planned for February 2026. Her family shared that she wanted to build her career before settling down, working as a sales manager in a private telecom firm in Noida to help support her loved ones. Her fiancé, Nikhil from Najafgarh, and her family from Chanakyapuri had supported her decision to delay the wedding.

Her brother, Mohit, described the couple as deeply supportive of each other’s dreams and said the entire family was heartbroken by the sudden loss.

The police have registered a case under Sections 289 (negligent conduct with machinery) and 106 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the new criminal code that recently replaced the Indian Penal Code.

So far, there has been no response from the amusement park management. The section of the park where the accident occurred has been shut, and the silence from the authorities has only deepened the family’s anguish as they seek accountability for the tragedy that took Priyanka’s life far too soon.
