Tragedy in Ahmedabad: 4-Month-Old Baby Mauled to Death by Pet Rottweiler
Ahmedabad – A heart-wrenching tragedy struck a residential society in the Hathijan area of Ahmedabad on Monday night when a four-month-old baby girl was fatally attacked by a pet Rottweiler. According to police, the infant was with her maternal aunt in the society’s common garden when the incident occurred.
The dog, brought out by a woman resident who was on a phone call at the time, suddenly became aggressive and slipped from its owner’s control. It charged toward the baby and her aunt without warning. Both suffered serious injuries in the attack.
“The child was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to deep wounds on her neck and skull. Her aunt remains hospitalized,” said police inspector Hitesh Baria.
CCTV footage from the scene shows the horrifying moment the Rottweiler attacked while several people were present nearby. Before anyone could intervene, the powerful dog had already inflicted fatal injuries on the baby.
The police have launched an investigation, and the infant’s body has been sent for post-mortem. “An FIR will be filed once the post-mortem report is received,” Baria confirmed.
Raju Chauhan, the grieving uncle of the baby, told reporters that the family is devastated and hopes for justice. The incident has raised serious concerns about pet safety and accountability in residential areas.
