Top 10 Best-Selling Cars in India for October 2025: From Tata Nexon to Maruti Suzuki Swift

India’s festive season brought a major boost to passenger vehicle sales, with strong consumer demand across segments. SUVs continued to dominate the market, while hatchbacks followed closely. Interestingly, only one sedan made it to the top 10 for October 2025.
According to sales data, the Tata Nexon claimed the No. 1 spot, selling 22,083 units, which reflects a remarkable 50% growth compared to October 2024.
In a surprising turn, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire—the only sedan on the list—secured the second position with 20,791 units, posting an impressive 64% year-on-year growth. Despite this, overall numbers show that sedans continue to lose ground to the ever-popular SUVs and hatchbacks.
Taking third place was the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with 20,087 units, followed by the trusted family favourite Wagon R, which sold 18,970 units and grew 36% YoY. The Hyundai Creta, a strong contender in the mid-size SUV space, ranked fifth with 18,381 units, marking a steady 5% growth over last year.
Other key performers included:
- Mahindra Scorpio – 17,880 units
- Maruti Fronx – 17,003 units
- Maruti Baleno – 16,873 units
- Tata Punch – 16,810 units (9th place)
- Maruti Suzuki Swift – 15,542 units, recording an 11% decline, placing it 10th
The October 2025 list clearly shows a shifting consumer preference. With five SUVs in the top ten, the dominance of the SUV segment is unmistakable. Hatchbacks such as the Wagon R and Baleno continue to stay relevant, while sedans are nearly disappearing from the leaderboard. Notably, Maruti Suzuki leads the market with six models in the top 10, reaffirming its stronghold in India’s automotive sector.
