Thailand’s Youngest PM, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Declares $400 Million Wealth in Asset Disclosure

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thailand’s youngest-ever Prime Minister and only the second woman to hold the position, has revealed a staggering asset portfolio worth over $400 million. The 38-year-old political leader, daughter of billionaire former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, comes from one of the country’s wealthiest families.
In a financial disclosure to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), Paetongtarn shared details of her vast wealth, which includes luxury items such as 200 designer handbags valued at $2 million, 75 high-end watches worth nearly $5 million, and 23 luxury cars, including a Bentley and a Rolls-Royce Phantom. She also owns properties in London and Japan, along with investments amounting to 11 billion baht and cash and deposits exceeding one billion baht.
Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn’s father, built his fortune during the 1980s and 90s in the mobile communications and satellite industries. Paetongtarn’s rise to Prime Minister in September 2023 marks a new era in Thai politics, with her blending of political heritage and a progressive leadership approach.
Her husband, Pitaka Suksawat, a former pilot and co-CEO of Rende Development Co., added to the family’s wealth with earnings of 5.13 million baht, partly from cryptocurrency trading.
At 38, Paetongtarn’s leadership promises to bring new energy to Thailand while managing her family’s legacy.
