Tesla Launches First Supercharger Station in India, Located in Mumbai

Tesla has officially marked its entry into the Indian market by opening its first showroom at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, along with the launch of its popular electric SUV, the Model Y. Adding to the momentum, the company has now unveiled India’s first Tesla Supercharger station, also situated in Mumbai.

According to reports, the new Tesla charging facility features:

  • Four V4 DC Superchargers, offering peak charging speeds of up to 250 kW, priced at ₹24 per kW.
  • Four Destination AC Chargers, with a standard charging rate of 11 kW, costing ₹11 per kW.

Tesla owners can monitor charger availability, battery levels, and charging progress through the Tesla mobile app, which provides real-time updates and facility notifications.

The Model Y, which debuted alongside the showroom launch, can gain up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes using the V4 Supercharger—enough for five round trips between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the Gateway of India. A full charge costs approximately ₹1,500, depending on the battery pack.

In India, the Tesla Model Y is offered in two variants:

  • RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) with a 60 kWh battery (WLTP range: 500 km), starting at ₹59.89 lakh.
  • Long-Range RWD with a 75 kWh battery (WLTP range: 622 km), priced at ₹67.89 lakh.

The RWD variant is powered by a single motor producing approximately 295 horsepower, promising robust performance alongside impressive efficiency.

With this strategic launch, Tesla has signaled its serious commitment to India’s EV market, offering both state-of-the-art vehicles and the charging infrastructure to support them.
