Tensions Escalate: Pakistan Warns of Possible Indian Military Action After Kashmir Attack

Islamabad:
Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has warned that an Indian military strike could be imminent following the recent deadly terror attack on tourists in Kashmir, which left 26 people dead and sparked outrage across India.
Speaking to Reuters on Monday, Asif said Pakistan had reinforced its forces along the border, anticipating possible action from India. “We have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now. Strategic decisions have been made accordingly,” Asif stated during an interview at his office in Islamabad.
The attack on April 22, the deadliest in years targeting civilians in Kashmir, has led to rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. India has accused Pakistan of being behind the attack, identifying two of the terrorists as Pakistani nationals — a claim Pakistan firmly denies, calling for a neutral investigation instead.
Asif mentioned that Pakistan’s military had briefed the government on the situation and stressed that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal would only be considered if there were a “direct threat to our existence.”
Diplomatic relations between the two countries have rapidly deteriorated since the attack. India has downgraded diplomatic ties, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the main land border crossing, and revoked visas for Pakistani nationals.
In response, Pakistan expelled Indian diplomats and military advisers, cancelled visas for Indians, and barred Indian aircraft from its airspace.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has banned over a dozen Pakistani YouTube channels, accusing them of spreading “provocative” content. Major Pakistani media outlets affected by the ban include Dawn, Samaa TV, ARY News, Bol News, Raftar, Geo News, and Suno News.
Both nations remain on high alert as the situation continues to evolve, with the world closely watching developments between these long-time rivals.
