Tejashwi Yadav Slams Bihar Budget, Calls It “Inflated and Misleading”

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has strongly criticized the Bihar state budget presented by the Nitish Kumar-led government, calling it “inflated” and “written with ink dipped in lies.”

Speaking to reporters outside the Vidhan Sabha, shortly after Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary presented the budget, Mr. Yadav dismissed it as a missed opportunity for the ruling BJP-led NDA. He claimed that despite no significant revenue growth, the budget size had been exaggerated to ₹3.71 lakh crore.

“It is strange that the budget keeps increasing despite no rise in revenue. They could have even made it ₹5 lakh crore. The figures are unrealistic and misleading,” he said.

Mr. Yadav, a former Deputy Chief Minister, further asserted that the NDA government would not return to power, criticizing its failure to introduce welfare measures such as a ₹2,500 monthly stipend for women and 200 units of free electricity. “They had the chance to do something for the people, but they let it slip. The RJD will ensure these benefits when we form the next government,” he promised.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mr. Yadav mocked his gesture of appreciation towards Samrat Choudhary inside the House. “This is his style. Whenever he is with younger leaders, he says, ‘The future belongs to you.’ But we all know how quickly his alliances change,” he remarked, referencing Nitish Kumar’s past political shifts.

With Bihar heading toward elections, the budget debate has set the stage for a fierce political battle, with the opposition gearing up to challenge the ruling NDA’s claims.
