Teenage Swimming Star Dhinidhi Desinghu Claims Fifth Gold as Karnataka Dominates National Games

Teenage swimming sensation Dhinidhi Desinghu continued her incredible run at the 38th National Games, securing her fifth gold medal as Karnataka continued its stronghold in the pool. The 14-year-old anchored Karnataka’s women’s 4x200m freestyle relay team to a gold medal, finishing in 8 minutes 54.87 seconds. Her teammates—Shirin, Shalini R Dixit, and Meenakshi Menon—helped secure the victory, with Gujarat and Maharashtra taking silver and bronze, respectively.

Earlier this week, Dhinidhi bagged four gold medals in the 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 4x100m freestyle relay, and 50m freestyle events.

Karnataka also celebrated success in the men’s category. Paris Olympian Srihari Nataraj anchored the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team to gold, clocking 7:45.82, alongside Dhakshan S, Shoan Ganguly, and Aneesh S Gowda.

Notable individual performances included Kerala’s Sajan Prakash, who won the men’s 200m butterfly gold with an impressive time of 2:01.40, and Maharashtra’s Dhirti Ahirwal, who topped the women’s 200m butterfly event with a time of 2:23.80.
