SpiceJet Set to Bring 10 Grounded Aircraft Back to Service by April 2025

New Delhi: SpiceJet is gearing up to reintroduce 10 grounded aircraft, including four Boeing 737 MAX planes, into its fleet by mid-April 2025. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the airline’s operational strength and network reach.
The initiative will significantly expand SpiceJet’s current fleet of 28 aircraft, despite the simultaneous redelivery of some planes to lessors. The airline has been actively bolstering its fleet since October 2024, adding 10 planes through a combination of reactivating grounded aircraft and leasing new ones.
Over the past three months, the airline has launched more than 60 new flights, improving connectivity and offering better service to passengers across its network.
Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, emphasized the airline’s focus on growth and recovery. “Our plan to bring 10 aircraft back into service by mid-April reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence. SpiceJet is on a strong path to recovery and remains dedicated to providing reliable and affordable air travel to millions of Indians,” he stated.
Last month, SpiceJet entered into a key agreement with StandardAero Inc., a leading US-based engine MRO company, to restore its grounded MAX fleet. This collaboration follows successful partnerships with CFM International, the OEM for LEAP-1B engines, and a major lessor, enabling the return of three Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to service.
With these steps, SpiceJet aims to reinforce its position in the Indian aviation market while ensuring better connectivity for travelers.
