Shaktipeeth Expressway: A Game-Changer for Nagpur to Goa Travel

The much-awaited Shaktipeeth Expressway, an 802-kilometer marvel connecting Nagpur and Goa, is poised to transform travel in Maharashtra. Developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), this six-lane expressway is set to dramatically reduce travel time from 18-20 hours to a mere 8-10 hours.
The expressway will improve connectivity across 12 districts and enhance access to major pilgrimage sites, driving both tourism and economic growth. A vital stretch of this expressway will connect Wardha and Sindhudurg, enabling smoother travel for both devotees and tourists. It begins in Pavnar, Wardha, and ends at Patradevi, on the Maharashtra-Goa border.
Passing through districts like Wardha, Yavatmal, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, and Sindhudurg, the expressway is expected to foster growth and regional development. As one of India’s longest highways, surpassing even the 701-kilometer Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway, the Shaktipeeth Expressway is more than just a road – it is a bridge linking cultural landmarks with economic potential.
This monumental project, costing Rs 86,000 crores, has already overcome many hurdles. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has prioritized its development, expediting land acquisition and moving the project forward. Modeled after the Samruddhi Expressway, it is designed to reduce travel time, connect rural and urban areas, and stimulate the regional economy.
Villages like Sangavade, Nerli, Vikaswadi, and Khebwade will benefit directly from the expressway’s path, improving access to resources and opportunities. When completed, the Shaktipeeth Expressway will not only become Maharashtra’s largest highway but also a vital lifeline that supports spiritual, cultural, and economic growth across the region.
