Salima Tete to Lead India’s 24-Member Squad for Women’s Hockey Pro League European Tour

India has announced a 24-member women’s hockey team for the European leg of the FIH Pro League, scheduled from June 14 to 29. The team will be led by dynamic midfielder Salima Tete, with seasoned forward Navneet Kaur named as vice-captain. The squad will face top-tier opponents—Australia, Argentina, Belgium, and China—twice each in high-stakes encounters across London, Antwerp, and Berlin.

India will kick off their campaign against Australia on June 14.

Veteran goalkeepers Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam headline the lineup, bringing invaluable experience between the posts. The defensive responsibilities will lie with stalwarts like Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Jyoti, Suman Devi Thoudam, Jyoti Singh, Ishika Chaudhary, and Jyoti Chhatri.

The midfield boasts a blend of talent and energy with the likes of Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Sujata Kujur, Manisha Chauhan, Neha, Salima herself, Lalremsiami, Sharmila Devi, Sunelita Toppo, and Mahima Tete.

India’s attacking front features youthful firepower and grit through Deepika, Navneet, Deepika Soreng, Baljeet Kaur, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, Beauty Dungdung, and Sakshi Rana.

The standby list includes goalkeeper Bansari Solanki and defender Ajmina Kujur, ready to step in if needed.

Chief coach Harendra Singh expressed confidence in the selected squad, calling it a “balanced blend of experience and young promise.” He added, “The European leg is crucial. We’ve learned a lot from our recent camps and the Bhubaneswar matches. The players are hungry to elevate their performance.”

In the Bhubaneswar leg, India showed resilience with two wins and two draws, securing nine points and currently sitting sixth in the standings.

With renewed focus and determination, Team India now looks ahead to the European challenge as a key step toward sharpening their skills on the global stage.
