Saif Ali Khan Narrowly Escapes Serious Injury After Knife Attack, Doctors Reveal

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan had a lucky escape after being stabbed multiple times by a burglar at his Mumbai residence. Doctors treating Khan revealed that the knife missed his spine by just 2 millimeters, potentially preventing a much more serious injury.

Khan was stabbed six times, including in his neck and shoulder, at his Bandra West apartment around 2:30 am on Thursday. He was rushed to Lilawati Hospital, where doctors performed a five-hour surgery to remove a 2.5-inch piece of the blade from his spine. Dr. Nitin Narayan Dange, a member of the medical team, said, “Saif Ali Khan is doing excellent. He’s walking well and experiencing minimal pain. He is no longer in danger and is recovering steadily.”

Doctors also confirmed that Khan has been moved out of the ICU to a special room to reduce the risk of infection. However, due to the nature of his spinal injury, visitor movement has been restricted for a week.

Niraj Uttamani, the Chief Operating Officer of Lilawati Hospital, praised Khan’s bravery, noting that despite being soaked in blood, Khan walked into the hospital unaided. “He walked in like a lion,” Uttamani said. “He’s very fortunate. If the knife had been just 2 mm deeper, it could have been much worse.”

Khan sustained several injuries, including a long cut on his neck, a deep stab wound on his back, and a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have launched an extensive search with 20 teams formed to catch the attacker, who was caught on CCTV fleeing the scene.
