Ricky Rai, Son of Late Underworld Figure Muthappa Rai, Survives Gun Attack in Karnataka

In a dramatic late-night incident, Ricky Rai, son of the late underworld figure N Muthappa Rai, was shot at by unidentified assailants while traveling from Bidadi to Bengaluru. The incident occurred between 1 am and 1:30 am near his residence, sending shockwaves through the region.
Ricky, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle along with his gunman, sustained injuries when a bullet pierced through the driver’s seat, injuring both him and the driver. According to police, three rounds were fired at the vehicle. He suffered wounds to his nose and arms but is currently out of danger and undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru.
He was initially taken to a private hospital in Bidadi before being shifted for advanced care. A senior officer stated that Ricky usually drives himself but was in the backseat at the time of the attack, which may have prevented more serious injuries.
In a twist to the case, a complaint filed by Ricky’s driver has led to an FIR against Muthappa Rai’s second wife Anuradha, entrepreneur and former associate Rakesh Malli, and the Niketan Trust.
Police have begun scanning CCTV footage from the area and formed multiple teams to trace the attackers. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and whether the accused named in the complaint have any connection to the shooting.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed that he has been briefed on the situation. “I have sought details from the police. Ricky Rai is out of danger, and extra force has been deployed at the spot as investigations continue,” he said.
The incident has raised concerns about security and rekindled attention on old rivalries linked to Muthappa Rai’s shadowy past.
