Rajasthan Police Uncovers ₹150 Crore Online Betting Racket, Three Arrested”

In a major breakthrough against online gambling networks, Rajasthan Police have busted a massive ₹150 crore online cricket betting racket operating across multiple states. Among those arrested is a software engineer, revealing how tech-savvy individuals are now playing key roles in digital crime.
The investigation, led by the Udyog Nagar Police Station team in Alwar, uncovered a sprawling illegal operation that spanned Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and several other parts of the country. The accused had developed and managed around 30 fake websites modeled on the infamous Mahadev Satta app, offering betting on sports like IPL cricket, online casinos, and local gambling games such as matka.
More than 60,000 agents and users were linked to this racket, highlighting its alarming scale. Authorities seized six Android mobile phones, two laptops, one hard drive, 15 ATM cards, and an SUV — all tools used to facilitate the operation and launder illegal earnings.
The gang’s network was sophisticated — with roles ranging from website development to money laundering through hawala channels. Funds collected were not just kept hidden but were actively used to purchase property in various cities, making the crime both digital and tangible.
The breakthrough came when Head Constable Sandeep, acting on an intelligence input, intercepted suspect Nitin Paliwal on his way back from Agra. Upon examining his devices, police discovered damning evidence that led to the arrests of Mahesh Sharma and Piyush Sharma from Mathura.
All three — Nitin Paliwal (from Alwar), Mahesh Sharma (Apnaghar Shalimar), and Piyush Sharma (Shivaji Park) — are now in police custody for four days. Authorities are continuing the probe to uncover more individuals involved in the network and trace assets bought with the illegal proceeds.
Police have also indicated that if sufficient evidence confirms the use of these funds in organised crime, property seizure under IPC provisions may follow.
This operation serves as a strong reminder of the growing nexus between technology and organised crime, and the increasing need for cyber vigilance. The Rajasthan Police’s swift and sharp action sends a clear message: no matter how advanced the racket, the law will catch up.
