Rahul Gandhi Criticizes SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch for Skipping Parliamentary Committee Hearing

In a sharp rebuke, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch’s absence from a crucial Parliamentary committee meeting on Thursday, accusing her of avoiding accountability. Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition, demanded answers about who might be shielding Buch from scrutiny by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

“Why is Madhabi Buch hesitant to appear before the PAC? Who is orchestrating this protection?” asked Gandhi, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability.

PAC chairman KC Venugopal, a senior Congress leader, earlier revealed that Buch cited her inability to travel to Delhi as the reason for not attending the session.

The situation has intensified following allegations by US-based firm Hindenburg Research, which suggested SEBI’s reluctance to investigate the Adani group could be linked to Buch’s alleged ties to offshore funds connected to the conglomerate. This has further fueled demands for greater scrutiny of Buch’s role and SEBI’s actions.
