Pushkar Singh Dhami Meets Narendra Modi, Thanks Centre and Pitches Big Plans for Uttarakhand’s Growth

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, expressing gratitude for the Centre’s continuous support in driving the state’s development.

During the meeting, CM Dhami acknowledged that the central government’s guidance has helped Uttarakhand achieve new milestones in growth and development. He also warmly invited the Prime Minister to visit the state.

As a gesture of respect, Dhami presented a replica of Maa Surkanda Devi, along with traditional gifts such as Badri cow ghee, locally sourced rajma varieties, and honey—highlighting the state’s rich cultural and agricultural heritage.

The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for several key approvals, including ₹500 crore for the upcoming Haridwar Kumbh 2027, ₹100 crore for developing Chauraasi Kutiya in Rajaji National Park, and support for infrastructure projects like the Dehradun Ring Road and Rishikesh underground electric lines. He also appreciated initiatives such as safe helicopter services for the Char Dham Yatra and development of the Naini-Saini airstrip.

Dhami shared updates on efforts to boost tourism, revealing plans to develop Uttarakhand as a global wedding destination, with scenic locations like Chopta and Duggalbitta being promoted. Spiritual tourism is also on the rise, with regions being developed as Spiritual Economic Zones and a sharp increase in pilgrims visiting Adi Kailash.

Adventure tourism is gaining momentum too, with activities like river rafting, paragliding, and kayaking being promoted across the state. Under the “Vocal for Local” initiative, Uttarakhand’s products are being taken to global markets through the House of Himalayas brand.

The Chief Minister also highlighted key schemes aimed at boosting education, employment, and rural development, including “One District One Fair,” homestay expansion, and entrepreneurship programs. He noted that over 6,000 homestays have already been registered, strengthening local livelihoods.

On the infrastructure front, Dhami requested the extension of the Regional Rapid Transit System to Haridwar and Rishikesh, along with improved rail and road connectivity across the state. He also proposed defence manufacturing hubs, seaplane services in Tehri Lake, and the construction of the Delhi-Haldwani Expressway to enhance connectivity and economic growth.

Additionally, he emphasised reforms like the Uttarakhand Jan Vishwas Bill-2026, which simplifies regulations and improves ease of doing business, along with initiatives supporting farmers, entrepreneurs, and border villages.

The meeting reflects Uttarakhand’s ambitious vision for development, combining infrastructure growth, tourism expansion, and local empowerment, backed by strong support from the Centre.
