PM Modi Flags Off Delhi’s First Namo Bharat Train: A Leap in High-Speed Regional Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated Delhi’s first high-speed Namo Bharat train service, opening a 13-kilometer stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar. Built at a cost of Rs 4,600 crore, the project is set to revolutionize regional travel, reducing the commute between Delhi and Meerut to under 40 minutes.

During his journey on the train, PM Modi actively engaged with passengers, interacted with schoolchildren who recited poems and presented him with sketches, and purchased a smart ticket to experience the passenger service firsthand. He also explored an exhibition on the project’s construction and received a train model from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

The state-of-the-art Namo Bharat train offers passengers modern facilities, including phone charging points, luggage storage, a dedicated women’s coach, and a premium coach. The fare for a journey between New Delhi and Meerut is set at Rs 150, making it both an efficient and affordable travel option for millions.
