PM Modi Explores Cutting-Edge Innovations at India AI Expo 2026, Showcasing India’s Tech Ambitions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent Monday morning walking through buzzing exhibition halls at the India AI Impact Expo 2026, stopping to interact with young founders, researchers, and global technology leaders at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Ahead of formally inaugurating the five-day event (February 16–20), the Prime Minister explored multiple pavilions where startups demonstrated how artificial intelligence is already transforming healthcare, agriculture, education, climate action, governance, and more. The Expo is being held alongside the India AI Impact Summit 2026, marking what organisers describe as the first major international AI summit hosted in the Global South.

A Showcase of AI in Action

Spread across 10 arenas and covering over 70,000 square metres, the Expo brings together global technology companies, Indian startups, research institutions, academia, Union Ministries, State Governments, and international partners under one roof.

More than 300 curated pavilions and live demonstrations are organised around three thematic “chakras” — People, Planet, and Progress — reflecting AI’s growing role in everyday life and long-term sustainability. Over 600 high-potential startups are participating, many already deploying population-scale AI solutions in real-world settings.

The event is expected to draw more than 2.5 lakh visitors, including international delegates, investors, and policymakers, turning the venue into a melting pot of ideas, partnerships, and future business collaborations.

Strong Global Presence

Thirteen country pavilions are part of the exhibition, highlighting international collaboration in the AI ecosystem. Nations including Australia, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan, and several African countries are showcasing their AI capabilities and partnership initiatives.

More than 500 sessions featuring over 3,250 speakers and panellists will take place during the summit, making it one of the largest AI gatherings hosted in the region.

India’s AI Vision Takes Centre Stage

Under the IndiaAI Mission, the government is unveiling 12 indigenous foundation models developed by Indian startups and research consortia. These models are trained on vast Indian datasets and tailored to support the country’s 22 official languages — a move aimed at making AI more inclusive and locally relevant.

For India, where the AI market is projected to cross USD 17 billion by 2027, the summit represents more than just a global event. It signals the country’s intention to shape the future of artificial intelligence in a way that is inclusive, responsible, and impactful.

With over 800 million internet users, a rapidly expanding startup ecosystem, and strong digital public infrastructure, India is positioning itself as a bridge between innovation and large-scale social impact and the India AI Expo 2026 is a visible step in that direction.
