Pakistani Influencer Sana Yousaf Shot Dead By Man She Rejected

In a horrifying act of violence, 17-year-old Pakistani influencer Sana Yousaf was shot dead in her Islamabad home by a man whose repeated advances she had firmly rejected. The tragic incident occurred on June 2 in front of her mother and aunt, just days after Sana celebrated her birthday on May 29.
The accused, 22-year-old Umar Hayat from Faisalabad, was arrested by Islamabad Police on Monday. “A monster, a cold-blooded murderer is now in the law’s grip,” declared Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi at a press conference.
According to the police, Umar Hayat had been persistently trying to connect with Sana, hoping to initiate a friendship. His approaches, however, were consistently rebuffed. On the day of the murder, after failing to get a response for hours, he forced his way into her home and shot her at point-blank range.
“This was not just rejection over the phone. It became a physical, tragic outcome,” Mr. Rizvi said grimly.
The First Information Report (FIR) filed by Sana’s mother recounts the terrifying moment—Hayat stormed in with a pistol around 5 p.m., firing two bullets into Sana’s chest. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
Investigations revealed Hayat had no formal education beyond matriculation and came from a lower-middle-class background. He had no stable source of income. After the shooting, he fled with Sana’s phone, possibly to destroy evidence. Both the phone and murder weapon have since been recovered.
“There were attempts to spin this as an honour killing,” Rizvi explained, “but this was a blind case. The motive was obsession, not family conflict.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the accused had confessed and the murder weapon was retrieved. The police described the manhunt as intense, involving multiple search operations across Islamabad and other cities.
Sana Yousaf’s death has shocked the nation, sparking outrage and highlighting the ongoing threat of violence faced by women, especially those in the public eye. Her murder is a grim reminder of how dangerous rejection can become in a society still battling toxic masculinity and entitled aggression.
