Nora Fatehi Faces ₹3 Crore Defamation Suit Over ‘Toy’ And ‘Lego Airplane’ Remarks
Gandhinagar: Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi has landed in a legal dispute after aviation company Dunes Aviation filed a ₹3 crore civil defamation suit against her over comments she allegedly made about one of the company’s chartered aircraft.
The case stems from videos Nora reportedly shared on Instagram after travelling from Mumbai to Jaipur on a Cessna Citation CJ2 operated by Dunes Aviation in December last year. In the posts, she allegedly described the aircraft using terms such as “miniature”, “toy” and “Lego airplane”.
Dunes Aviation has objected to the remarks, claiming they were derogatory and caused significant damage to the company’s reputation and business.
Aviation Firm Claims Business Took A Hit
According to the company, Nora’s large social media following amplified the impact of her comments. Dunes Aviation has claimed that bookings fell by around 15–20 per cent following the posts and that the company also experienced an increase in cancellations.
The aviation firm has argued that the aircraft was neither unsafe nor unsuitable for the journey. It maintains that the Cessna Citation CJ2 was appropriately sized for the Mumbai-Jaipur route, was certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and was considered airworthy.
The company has also stated that the aircraft was being operated legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).
Company Calls Remarks ‘Reckless’
In its legal action, Dunes Aviation has accused Nora of making what it described as “derogatory and reckless” comments without adequate technical knowledge or factual verification.
The company has alleged that the remarks resulted in reputational damage, loss of goodwill and an adverse commercial impact.
However, these are allegations made by the aviation company as part of its civil suit and will be considered by the court.
What Dunes Aviation Wants From The Court
Along with ₹3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has asked the court to direct the removal of Nora’s posts and any other online content containing the alleged remarks or references to the aircraft.
The company has also sought a public clarification from the actor.
The matter is scheduled to come up before Senior Civil Judge R Agarwal on September 25.
As the legal proceedings move forward, the court will consider the claims made by Dunes Aviation and the response from Nora Fatehi.
