No Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia & UAE Yet; Eid Likely on Friday

As Ramadan nears its end, Muslims across the world are eagerly waiting for the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, which marks the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.
In Saudi Arabia, Wednesday (March 18) marked the 29th day of Ramadan. However, the crescent moon was not sighted anywhere in the country. A team of observers, led by noted moon-sighter Abdullah Al-Khudairi, gathered at the Hawtat Sudair Observatory near Riyadh, but the moon remained unseen.
As a result, Ramadan will complete 30 days on Thursday, and Eid is now expected to be celebrated on Friday.
A similar situation has been reported in the United Arab Emirates, where the moon was also not sighted. While an official announcement is awaited, Eid is likely to fall on Friday there as well.
The announcement from Saudi Arabia plays an important role for countries like India, where Eid is usually celebrated a day later. If the moon is sighted in India on the evening of March 19, Eid could be observed on Friday, aligning with Saudi Arabia. Otherwise, celebrations may take place on Saturday after completing 30 days of fasting.
As the wait continues, preparations and prayers are in full swing, with people looking forward to marking the end of Ramadan with joy, gratitude, and togetherness.
