Narayana Murthy’s Family Wealth Takes a ₹1,850 Crore Hit as Infosys Shares Drop 6%

The recent dip in Infosys’ share price has resulted in a ₹1,850 crore loss for the Murthy family’s stake, bringing its value down from ₹32,152 crore to ₹30,300 crore. This drop follows a nearly 6% decline in Infosys’ stock price on Friday, with the shares closing at ₹1,815.10 on the BSE, down 5.77%. The slump in the share price came despite Infosys reporting positive results for Q3 of fiscal year 2025.

The Murthy family holds a combined 4.02% stake in Infosys. Narayana Murthy himself owns 0.40%, his wife Sudha Murty holds 0.92%, their son Rohan Murty has 1.62%, and daughter Akshata Murty, wife of UK’s former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, holds 1.04%. Additionally, their grandson Ekagrah Rohan Murthy has a small 0.04% stake.

Despite posting an 11.46% increase in net profit for Q3, Infosys’ share price was negatively impacted by market sell-off. The company’s market value fell by ₹46,108 crore to ₹7.53 lakh crore. The Sensex and Nifty also saw declines, with the BSE IT index falling 2.48%.

Infosys had raised its annual sales forecast and reported a 7.6% increase in revenue, driven by strong demand, particularly in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors. The company’s CEO, Salil Parekh, expressed confidence in continued growth, citing positive shifts in discretionary spending in financial services, retail, and consumer products.
