Mumbai On High Alert After WhatsApp Threat Of Multiple Blasts

Mumbai:
Mumbai Police have stepped up security after receiving a WhatsApp message threatening large-scale terror attacks during the Ganesh festival, which concludes with Anant Chaturthi tomorrow.
The message, sent to the traffic police control room, claimed that 34 vehicles had been fitted with “human bombs” and that 400 kg of RDX would be used, with the potential to “kill 1 crore people.” The sender, identifying himself as “Lashkar-e-Jihadi,” also alleged that 14 Pakistani terrorists had entered India.
Security forces have intensified checks across the city, from parking areas to basements, as a precaution. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has been alerted, and the case is being investigated from all possible angles.
“Our forces are fully prepared. Preventive measures are in place, and no location is being left unchecked,” a senior officer said at a press briefing.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay calm and not fall for rumours.
The Ganesh festival is Mumbai’s biggest celebration, drawing lakhs of devotees. Police had already been on high alert for tomorrow’s immersion processions, and this threat has prompted even tighter security arrangements.
