Mufasa (Hindi) Review: AbRam Shines in His Debut, While Shah Rukh Khan Steals the Show

Disney India’s Mufasa: The Lion King (Hindi version) brings together a unique family bond on screen with Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, and AbRam Khan lending their voices to three generations of lions. The film blends family values with nostalgia, making it a heartwarming experience for audiences of all ages.

Directed by Barry Jenkins in English, Mufasa delves into the origin story of Mufasa and his brother Taka. The film explores the journey of Mufasa, separated from his pride after a devastating flood, as he forms a bond with Taka before embarking on an adventure that leads him to meet Sarabi, Zazu, and Rafiki. The story is rich in emotional depth, with themes of family and loyalty.

Watching Mufasa in Hindi adds a layer of charm, as the regional elements feel more connected to the narrative. The dialogues in Hindi are funnier, with characters like Pumbaa and Timon stealing the show. Zazu’s playful, filmy lines, such as “Itna sannata kyun hai?” add a special touch, and the emotional moments resonate more strongly in the Hindi dub.

However, despite these enhancements, the film’s pacing remains a concern. The plot feels rushed at times, and while the additional Hindi elements enrich the story, they can’t completely mask the structural issues.

Shah Rukh Khan’s performance as Mufasa holds the film together, giving it a distinct Mufasa-centric feel, unlike the English version, which leans more towards Taka. Aryan Khan’s role as Simba is brief but impactful, while AbRam Khan’s portrayal of young Mufasa is a standout, though it leaves you wanting more of him on screen.

Sanjay Mishra’s Pumbaa and Shreyas Talpade’s Timon provide the perfect comedic relief, while Makarand Deshpande’s Rafiki adds sincerity and depth to the character. However, Vikrant Chaturvedi’s portrayal of Kiros falls short compared to Mads Mikkelsen’s commanding performance in the English version.

The music, particularly Shaan’s vocals, adds another layer to the Hindi version’s appeal. While the English version’s Bye Bye still holds a special place, the Hindi tracks align well with the film’s tone and energy.

Overall, Mufasa in Hindi offers a vibrant, family-oriented experience with strong performances, heartfelt storytelling, and unforgettable music. Disney India has done an excellent job of infusing the international film with a desi flavor, making this Hindi version a must-watch.
