Mamata Banerjee Blames RSS and BJP for Stirring Communal Tensions in Bengal, Urges Peace

In a strongly-worded appeal to the people of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday accused the RSS and BJP of deliberately instigating communal violence in the state for political gain.
In an open letter, Banerjee said, “RSS and BJP are the ones who are provoking communal unrest in West Bengal. I urge all citizens to remain vigilant and not fall into their trap.” She warned that these groups were using a recent unfortunate incident as a pretext to spread divisive narratives and incite riots.
“They want to divide us for their narrow electoral interests,” she added, emphasizing her government’s commitment to unity, peace, and communal harmony. “We love all. We want to stay together. We condemn riots. We are against riots,” Banerjee said.
She reassured the public that strong actions were being taken against those involved in the violence. “The criminals behind the riots are being strongly dealt with. Two police officers-in-charge have already been removed, and investigations are underway,” she stated.
Banerjee also stressed the importance of mutual trust between communities, calling on both majority and minority groups to stand together and support one another.
“We must avoid mistrust and take care of each other. The state government is doing everything possible to preserve law and order, and to protect lives and dignity,” she concluded.
