Major Fire Ravages Delhi’s Dilli Haat Market, No Casualties Reported

A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday evening at Dilli Haat, a popular art and craft market in South Delhi’s INA area. The blaze, which erupted at around 8:55 PM, engulfed 25 to 30 stalls, completely destroying them. Despite the extensive damage, thankfully, no injuries or casualties have been reported.

Delhi Fire Service officials were quick to respond, and the fire was brought under control by 9:51 PM. Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra confirmed the situation on social media, reassuring the public that there were no casualties. He added that he would be visiting Dilli Haat in person.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as thick smoke billowed from the market. “It seemed like a major fire,” said one witness. “Several traders have lost their goods, and people rushed to the exit after the fire started.”

Traders were devastated as they watched their livelihoods go up in flames. “We evacuated the area when the fire broke out, but by the time we returned, my shop and several others were destroyed,” said one tearful shopkeeper.

Dilli Haat, known for its diverse handicrafts from across India and vibrant food stalls, was severely affected, with goods worth crores reportedly destroyed. Despite the damage, no casualties were reported, and emergency teams ensured that everyone was evacuated safely.
