Maha Kumbh 2025 to Conclude on Mahashivratri: Grand Finale with Tight Security and Massive Arrangements

Prayagraj: The grand spiritual gathering of Maha Kumbh 2025 is set to conclude with the final Amrit Snan on Mahashivratri, scheduled for Wednesday, February 26. With over 64 crore devotees having participated so far, authorities have made elaborate arrangements to manage the massive influx for this sacred occasion.

Strict Security and Travel Arrangements for Devotees

To ensure smooth and safe proceedings, the entire mela area has been declared a ‘no vehicle zone’ from 4 PM on Tuesday. Pilgrims have been advised to use their nearest ghats instead of crowding at the Sangam. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has deployed 4,500 buses to facilitate travel, while the Railway Ministry has scheduled 350 special trains for the safe return of pilgrims.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is personally overseeing the arrangements to ensure everything runs smoothly. “There are clear directives to prioritize safety and security. The CM is monitoring all the arrangements himself,” a senior official confirmed.

Designated Ghats for a Hassle-Free Snan

To manage the crowd effectively, the government has issued an advisory specifying designated ghats for pilgrims:

Uttari Jhunsi: Harishchandra Ghat, Old GT Ghat

Dakshini Jhunsi: Arail Ghat

Pande Area Entrants: Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, Hanuman Ghat

Additionally, pontoon bridges will be operated based on crowd movement to streamline the flow of devotees.

Unprecedented Security Measures

Security has been ramped up with 37,000 police personnel and 14,000 home guards deployed across the Maha Kumbh site. Authorities have installed 2,750 AI-based CCTV cameras, set up three Jal Police stations, 18 Jal Police control rooms, and 50 watch towers to monitor the area.

“We are also monitoring social media 24×7 to prevent misinformation about the Maha Kumbh,” said DIG (Kumbh) Vaibhav Krishna.

Over a Crore Devotees Arrive for the Final Bath

On Tuesday alone, over one crore pilgrims reached Mahakumbh Nagar, the temporary 76th district of Uttar Pradesh created for the event. Late into the night, the influx of devotees continued, with streets bustling with vendors selling puja essentials.

Railway stations have also implemented additional security and crowd control measures to ensure the safe departure of pilgrims. DSP Yashwant Singh stated that strict barricading and holding areas have been set up to prevent overcrowding on platforms. “Passengers are only allowed to enter when their train arrives to avoid congestion,” he explained.

A Grand Conclusion to a Historic Gathering

As the final Amrit Snan approaches, authorities remain vigilant, ensuring a seamless and spiritually fulfilling conclusion to Maha Kumbh 2025. With a blend of faith, discipline, and meticulous planning, the event is set to end on a high note, leaving behind memories of devotion, organization, and unity.
