Kolkata’s Undefeated Boxing Star Faizan Anwar to Fight for WBA Asia Middle East Title in Bengaluru Showdown

India’s boxing scene is set to light up this Sunday as 24-year-old Faizan Anwar from Kolkata steps into the ring for the WBA Asia Middle East super lightweight title. With an unbeaten professional record of 19 wins and no losses or draws (19-0-0), Faizan will face Ghana’s Kpakpo Allotey at the iconic Sunburn Union in Bengaluru, as part of the electrifying third edition of The Super Fighter Series.

Organised by Grassroot Boxing and Crown Boxing Promotions, this event brings together ten high-octane bouts, including four international showdowns and two WBA Asia Middle East title clashes. It’s the first time a professional boxing series of this scale is being hosted in India at a high-energy venue like Sunburn Union, blending world-class sport with vibrant pub culture.

Faizan, widely considered one of India’s brightest boxing prospects, last fought in November 2024, defeating Tom Summerbell by unanimous decision. Sunday’s bout could mark a defining moment in his already impressive career.

“This is not just an event — it’s a movement to elevate Indian boxing from the grassroots to the global stage,” said Mujtaba Kamal, a former boxer and founder of Grassroot Boxing. Rani Kamal, co-founder of the organisation, confirmed that all arrangements are complete and tickets are live on BookMyShow.

Alongside Faizan’s headliner, the co-main event features a gripping clash between Ukraine’s Danylo Honcharuk and Dagestan’s Ruslan Kamilov. Another highlight is the women’s bout between Belarus’ Aleksandra Sitnikova and India’s own Rani Devi — expected to be a fan favourite.

The night will also showcase Indian talents like Ritesh Singh Bisht, Kavinder Singh Bisht, Vanlalawmpuia, and F Zoramchhana, as well as rising local fighters such as Kamla Roka, Rohit Choudhary, and Harsha Saroha, who have all trained in Bengaluru. International fighters Ramanthan Mpagi (Uganda) and Ruslan Kamilov (Russia) round out the global fight card.

Payam Honari, founder of Crown Boxing Promotions, highlighted the significance of the event: “India is fast becoming a powerhouse for professional boxing. With the Super Fighter Series, we’re not just building champions — we’re building bridges between cultures through sport.”

As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Faizan Anwar — the pride of Kolkata — as he looks to bring home the title and continue his unbeaten streak.
