KKR Bounce Back With Dominant Win Over SRH, Climb to Fifth in IPL 2025 Standings

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a resounding performance at Eden Gardens, securing a massive 80-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and making a remarkable jump from the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table to fifth place. Meanwhile, SRH’s struggles continued as they remained at the bottom after suffering their third consecutive defeat.

Batting first, KKR posted their highest total of the season, 200/6, thanks to a stellar effort from Venkatesh Iyer, who silenced his critics with a blistering 60 off just 29 balls. Young talent Angkrish Raghuvanshi also shone with a classy 50 off 32 deliveries, sharing an 81-run stand with skipper Ajinkya Rahane (38 off 27). Late fireworks from Rinku Singh (32* off 17) and Iyer ensured KKR crossed the 200-run mark.

KKR’s bowling attack then dismantled SRH’s much-hyped batting lineup. Seamer Vaibhav Arora set the tone by dismissing Travis Head (4) and Ishan Kishan (2) early, finishing with an impressive 3/29. Harshit Rana, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine kept up the pressure, reducing SRH to 66/5 within 10 overs. Spinner Varun Chakravarthy cleaned up the lower order, taking two wickets in two balls and finishing with figures of 3/22. SRH crumbled to 120 all out in just 16.4 overs.

With this win, KKR returned to winning ways after two early losses in the tournament. They will now face Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on Tuesday. On the other hand, SRH will look to break their losing streak when they take on Gujarat Titans on Sunday.

In the race for individual accolades, Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants holds the Orange Cap with 189 runs, while Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad leads the Purple Cap standings with nine wickets.
