Bengaluru:
In a deeply tragic incident, a businessman from Karnataka, Manjunath Rao, was killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday. The attack occurred in front of his wife and 18-year-old son while the family was on vacation. His wife, Pallavi, a bank manager, and their son Abhi survived the attack and are currently safe under official care.
Manjunath, a well-known realtor from Shivamogga, had been enjoying a family trip when the terror strike abruptly shattered their plans. Several other tourists were also reportedly injured in the attack, with updates on their conditions awaited.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister’s Office said that two teams — one of senior government officials and another of police personnel — have been dispatched to Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, an adventure team led by Commissioner Chetan from the Sports Department is also on its way to support and assist the affected families.
Taking to social media, CM Siddaramaiah condemned the terror attack in strong words:
“I strongly condemn the heinous terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Kannadigas are among the victims. We are closely monitoring the situation and doing everything to support the affected families.”
He also confirmed that the Resident Commissioner in Delhi has been tasked with coordinating further actions and assisting in bringing Manjunath’s body back to Karnataka.
Tourism and Law Minister H.K. Patil shared that preliminary reports indicated around 12 people from Karnataka were present at the attack site. He assured that the government is verifying the details and will provide all necessary assistance.
BJP MP B.Y. Raghavendra, who represents the Shivamogga constituency, confirmed that Manjunath’s wife and son are in a secure location and arrangements are being made to repatriate his body.
