Iran’s Khamenei Slams Trump Over “Surrender” Demand: “Too Big For His Mouth”

Tehran – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has sharply rebuked former US President Donald Trump for calling on Iran to “surrender”, calling the remark excessively arrogant and dismissive.

“The US President said, ‘Iran must surrender.’ This statement is too grand to come from his mouth,” Khamenei posted on X (formerly Twitter), reacting to Trump’s recent remarks. According to The Hill, Khamenei accused the US of gaining “nothing” from its recent military operations against Iran and warned against further escalation.

These were Khamenei’s first public comments following the US airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday. In a televised address, he declared Iran’s stance as victorious, dismissing Trump’s characterization of the strikes as a “spectacular military success.”

“I congratulate our dear Iran for its victory over the US regime,” Khamenei said, adding, “The US entered the war because it feared the Zionist regime [Israel] would otherwise be completely destroyed. It intervened to save that regime — and still failed.”

While Trump claimed the strikes “obliterated Iran’s nuclear program,” Khamenei contradicted that claim, suggesting the impact was minimal and largely symbolic.

Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social calling for Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” hinting at more military action if Iran refused to negotiate a peace deal.

“There will either be peace or a tragedy for Iran far greater than what we’ve seen in the last eight days,” Trump warned in an address from the White House. “If peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill.”

The recent confrontation was sparked on June 13 when Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a wide-ranging strike on Iran’s military and nuclear facilities. Iran responded with Operation True Promise 3, unleashing waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli infrastructure.
