Indore Man Fakes Own Kidnapping to Get ₹1 Lakh “Ransom” from Father, Arrested

Indore: A 24-year-old man, Satish Gupta, desperate to clear his debts, allegedly staged his own kidnapping with the help of two friends and demanded a ₹1 lakh ransom from his father. However, police quickly unraveled the conspiracy, leading to the arrest of all three men.

According to officials, Satish had been struggling financially due to his expensive hobbies and a growing addiction to betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. To arrange money, he hatched a plan with his friends, Aarush Arora and Tejveer Singh Sandhu.

On Tuesday, Satish’s father, Shreeram Gupta, received a call claiming that his son had been kidnapped and would only be released if ₹1 lakh was paid. Alarmed, he immediately contacted the police.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Devendra Singh Dhurve said investigators quickly picked up clues leading them to Arora and Sandhu. Upon questioning, the duo confessed, exposing the fake kidnapping plot.

“Satish was in deep debt due to his extravagant lifestyle and IPL betting. He orchestrated the entire scheme in an attempt to extract money from his father,” ACP Dhurve stated. A detailed investigation is ongoing to uncover further details of the case.
