“India Stands for Peace, Not Neutrality in Times of Crisis”: PM Modi on Nikhil Kamath’s Podcast

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first-ever podcast appearance on People With The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi x Nikhil Kamath | By WTF, shared his views on India’s stance during global conflicts, the nation’s aspirations, and a personal anecdote from his past.

Speaking on the podcast, which aired on Friday, PM Modi emphasized that India is not neutral when it comes to conflict situations across the world. “In times of crisis, we have consistently said that we are not neutral; we stand firmly in favour of peace,” he said in response to a question about ongoing global wars.

The Prime Minister highlighted why the world trusts India, attributing it to the aspirations of every Indian to see the country become a developed nation by 2047. “The world trusts us because we are genuine. Whatever we say, we say with clarity,” PM Modi stated. He added, “I am in favour of peace, and I will support any efforts to achieve it. I convey this to Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Palestine, and Israel. They trust that my intentions are sincere.”

During the conversation, PM Modi also reflected on a pivotal moment in his political journey — being denied a visa by the United States. Sharing the incident, he said, “I was an MLA when the American government refused to grant me a visa. Personally, visiting America wasn’t a big deal; I had been there before. But it felt like a disrespect to an elected government and to India as a nation. It created a sense of dilemma and hurt.”

Recalling his response at the time, he shared, “In 2005, during a press conference, I publicly announced the visa rejection and said, ‘I envision an India where the world will stand in line for our visas.’ Today, in 2025, we are seeing that vision come to life. This is India’s moment on the global stage.”

PM Modi’s remarks underscored his optimism about India’s future and its growing stature in the world, as well as the nation’s unwavering commitment to peace amidst global crises.
