India Clinches 11 Medals at World Boxing Cup as Sakshi, Jaismine, and Nupur Strike Gold

India’s women boxers led a stellar performance at the second edition of the World Boxing Cup, with Sakshi (54kg), Jaismine (57kg), and Nupur (+80kg) each securing gold medals in their respective categories on Sunday. Their impressive victories contributed to India’s record-breaking medal haul at the event — a total of 11 medals, including 3 golds, 5 silvers, and 3 bronzes.
Sakshi kicked off India’s gold campaign with a dominant win over USA’s Yosline Perez, earning a unanimous decision in the women’s 54kg final with her aggressive style and fast combinations.
In the 57kg final, Jaismine displayed composure and strategic finesse to outbox Brazil’s Jucielen Cequeira Romeu in a tight 4:1 split decision. Using her long reach effectively, she managed to keep her opponent at bay in the final round and countered with precision.
Nupur capped off the day by overpowering Kazakhstan’s Yeldana Talipova in the 80+kg final. Though she lost the first round, Nupur came back strong, dominating the next two rounds with clean punches and tactical superiority to win by a 5:0 margin.
Among the silver medallists were Jugnoo (men’s 85kg), Pooja Rani (women’s 80kg), Hitesh Gulia (men’s 70kg), and Abhinash Jamwal (men’s 65kg), each of whom fell short in their respective final bouts. Meenakshi also fought hard in the women’s 48kg final but narrowly lost 2:3 to local favourite Nazym Kyzaibay.
Other silver medallists — Jugnoo, Pooja, Hitesh, and Jamwal — faced strong opponents and lost on points, with Jugnoo and Pooja going down 0:5 and Jamwal narrowly losing 2:3.
India’s bronze medal winners included Sanju (women’s 60kg), Nikhil Dubey (men’s 75kg), and Narender (men’s 90+kg), rounding out a historic campaign that highlighted India’s growing strength in international boxing.
