ICC Clarifies After Kohli, Rohit Omitted From ODI Rankings Due To ‘Technical Glitch’

The ICC on Wednesday addressed confusion surrounding the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s names from its latest ODI rankings. Their omission sparked speculation about their future in the format, as both cricketers have already retired from Tests and T20Is.

The governing body clarified that the error was due to a technical glitch and later updated the list. Rohit Sharma is currently ranked No. 2 in ODI batting, while Virat Kohli holds the No. 4 spot.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj reclaimed the top position in the ICC ODI bowling rankings after a five-wicket haul against Australia in Cairns, which earned him Player of the Match. India’s Kuldeep Yadav slipped to third, while Ravindra Jadeja remains the only other Indian bowler in the top 10.

Elsewhere, West Indies pacer Jayden Seales jumped 15 places to 18th after his six-wicket haul against Pakistan. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed and West Indies’ Roston Chase also rose in the rankings.

In batting, India’s Shubman Gill continues to lead with 784 points, while Shreyas Iyer holds the eighth spot. The Indian team has not played an ODI since their Champions Trophy title win.
