Hina Munawar Becomes First Female Operations Manager for Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team Ahead of Champions Trophy

In a historic move, Hina Munawar, a seasoned police officer with a strong background in security and operations, has been appointed as the Operations Manager for the Pakistan men’s cricket team. She will take on this role for the upcoming Tri-Nation series and the Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19 in Karachi.

Munawar has an impressive career in law enforcement, having served in the high-risk Swat region as part of the Frontier Constabulary. She made history as the first female district officer in the unit, breaking long-standing gender barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Her appointment marks a significant shift in the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) approach to team management. While senior retired bureaucrat Naveed Akram Cheema will continue as the overall team manager, Munawar’s addition is expected to enhance operational efficiency within the squad.

A source close to the PCB noted that her experience in leadership and strategic roles will help improve coordination between the players and the board. Munawar, who joined the PCB last year, had previously managed the Pakistan women’s under-19 team during the Asia Cup, further strengthening her credentials in sports management.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi played a key role in bringing her on board, appointing her on deputation from the Police Service of Pakistan. Her expertise in handling security and administrative challenges is expected to bring a fresh perspective to a setup that has long been male-dominated and primarily coaching-focused.

With this groundbreaking appointment, the PCB is taking a step towards a more structured and efficient management system, making space for diverse leadership in Pakistan cricket.
