Hera Pheri 3 Director Priyadarshan On Akshay Kumar Suing Paresh Rawal: “Paresh Didn’t Inform Us

The much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3 has been making headlines—but not just for its comedy legacy. A bitter fallout between veteran actors Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal has taken a legal turn, with Akshay reportedly suing Paresh for Rs 25 crore after the latter walked out of the film. Now, director Priyadarshan has weighed in, revealing a behind-the-scenes narrative that contrasts sharply with Paresh Rawal’s claims.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan said he understands Akshay Kumar’s frustration, especially given the actor’s financial stake in the film. “I don’t have anything to lose, but Akshay has invested his hard-earned money. That’s likely why he’s pursuing legal action,” Priyadarshan shared, adding that he’s still waiting for any communication from Paresh.

The director claims he had personally confirmed the involvement of both Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty before the shoot began. “Akshay had asked me to check with both, and I did. They were both onboard,” he said. The revelation suggests the exit came without warning, at least to the director.

However, Paresh Rawal paints a different picture. In a separate conversation with Mid-Day, the veteran actor stated that he had, in fact, informed all involved parties—Akshay, Suniel, and Priyadarshan—about his decision to leave the project. “Priyadarshanji did try to change my mind, but they all know once I decide something, I stand by it. So no one pushed further,” Paresh explained.

Despite the tension, the three had already begun filming Hera Pheri 3 under Priyadarshan’s direction in April this year. Akshay Kumar, who bought the legal rights to the franchise from Feroz Nadiadwala, is also producing the film.

Interestingly, the fallout comes amid another collaboration—Bhoot Bangla—a horror-comedy film that also stars both Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal under Priyadarshan’s direction.

The trio, once a beloved comedic team, now find themselves navigating an emotional and professional crossroads. Having worked together in hits like Hungama, De Dana Dan, and Chup Chup Ke, the current rift leaves fans wondering whether laughter can still bring them back together—or if this marks the end of an era.
