“Heard A Loud Sound, Then…”: What Tennis Star Radhika Yadav’s Uncle Witnessed After Her Murder

Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old tennis player, was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen of her Gurugram home after being shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav. Her uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, who was present in the house at the time, recounted the horrifying sequence of events to the police.
Kuldeep told the police that around 10:30 AM on Thursday, he was on the ground floor of their two-storey house in the upscale Sushant Lok area of Sector 57 when he heard a loud gunshot. Rushing upstairs, he found his niece motionless in the kitchen and a 32-bore revolver lying in the drawing room.
“My son Piyush and I immediately carried Radhika to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56. The doctors declared her dead upon arrival,” Kuldeep stated in the FIR. He noted that only Deepak, his wife Manju, and Radhika were on the first floor during the incident. Kuldeep strongly believes that Deepak, who legally owned the revolver, killed his daughter.
Kuldeep further revealed that he resides on the ground floor with his wife Seema and daughter Anmol. Deepak also has a son, Dheeraj Yadav, who was not at home when the shooting occurred. The family is involved in a rental property business.
During police interrogation, Deepak admitted to the crime. He said he was upset with Radhika for running a tennis academy, claiming it subjected him to ridicule from villagers in Wazirabad who mocked him for relying on his daughter’s earnings. Radhika had started the academy after suffering a shoulder injury that ended her competitive career. Despite Deepak’s repeated requests to shut it down, Radhika refused — which allegedly pushed him to commit the murder.
Police confirmed that Deepak fired five rounds, three of which struck Radhika.
Kuldeep said he remains in shock. “Radhika was a dedicated athlete and had won many tennis trophies. She was an inspiration,” he added.
