“He Was No Victim”: London-Based Gangster Claims Responsibility for Delhi Property Dealer’s Murder

In a chilling turn of events, the fatal shooting of 52-year-old property dealer Rajkumar Dalal in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar has taken a darker twist, after a London-based gangster publicly claimed responsibility for the killing. Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu, posted a brazen message on Facebook, declaring that he had ordered the hit.
Dalal was driving his Toyota Fortuner to the gym in Punjabi Bagh on Friday when he was ambushed by assailants in two vehicles. The attackers fired nearly 15 rounds, killing him on the spot. According to the police, the crime bore all the signs of a targeted gangland execution.
Confirming those fears, Sangwan’s Facebook post revealed that Dalal had allegedly aligned himself with his rival, Delhi-based gangster Manjeet Mahal. “He used to grab land for my enemy. I warned Manjeet that whoever supports him becomes my enemy. I got the murder done,” Sangwan wrote in Hindi.
“Don’t play the victim card. You started it. I’m finishing it,” he added defiantly, suggesting a personal vendetta rooted in gang rivalry.
Currently hiding in London, Sangwan is already on Interpol’s radar, with a Red Corner Notice issued against him. This international alert seeks his arrest and extradition to India.
Police sources say the case may soon be handed over to the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Investigators are now scanning CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby areas to identify the shooters. It’s believed the attackers had been monitoring Dalal’s routine for days before executing the hit.
Dalal’s sudden and violent death has left his family—wife Sujata and their son, a practicing doctor—shocked and shattered. They reportedly had no knowledge of any threats or enmity in his life.
The case has stirred concerns about the growing reach of organized crime and how gang rivalries, even from abroad, continue to impact lives on Delhi’s streets.
