“Hands Off!”: Thousands to Rally Across US Against Trump and Musk’s Policies

In a massive show of resistance, more than 1,200 demonstrations are set to take place across the United States this Saturday as Americans voice their anger toward President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. The nationwide protest campaign, titled “Hands Off!”, is shaping up to be the largest coordinated day of action against Trump since he returned to office.
Organizers say the demonstrations are a response to Trump’s sweeping changes to both foreign and domestic policy, largely enacted through executive orders. Critics argue these moves are part of a larger conservative agenda to centralize presidential power and reshape the federal government—an effort tied to the controversial Project 2025 initiative.
“This is a powerful moment,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, one of the lead organizing groups. “We’re sending a clear message to Trump, Musk, and their MAGA allies: keep your hands off our democracy, our schools, our communities, and our future.”
The protests have gained momentum across all 50 states and even internationally, with rallies planned in Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Mexico, and Portugal. A major gathering is expected in Washington, D.C., on the National Mall.
Over 150 activist groups have pledged their support, including the Service Employees International Union, Human Rights Campaign, and Greenpeace. These demonstrations also bring together diverse causes—from immigration and LGBTQ+ rights to environmental justice and support for Palestinian communities—under one united front.
Since returning to the White House on January 20, Trump has wasted no time pushing through an aggressive agenda. While his supporters hail his boldness, critics argue that his administration is rolling back critical rights and protections. His efforts have already triggered multiple lawsuits, especially over his moves to dismiss civil servants, restrict LGBTQ+ protections, and enforce stricter immigration measures.
Meanwhile, the White House has denied accusations that Trump is planning to cut essential benefits. “President Trump will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid,” said Liz Huston, assistant press secretary, in an email. She also accused Democrats of jeopardizing those programs by extending benefits to undocumented immigrants.
Joining the protests will also be pro-Palestinian activists pushing back against US support for Israel’s actions in Gaza and the Trump administration’s stance on student-led campus protests.
While recent demonstrations have been smaller in scale, activist leaders say Saturday’s united front marks a renewed wave of resistance. Indivisible, along with groups like MoveOn and the Working Families Party, has been rallying progressive voices nationwide since Trump’s first election in 2016.
This weekend, they hope to show just how many people still believe in standing up—and speaking out—for their rights.
