Gold Smuggling Racket Busted: Married Couple Caught at Delhi Airport with ₹1.41 Crore Gold

In a major crackdown on gold smuggling, customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport arrested a married couple attempting to bring in gold worth ₹1.41 crore from Bahrain. The duo was intercepted upon arrival on Sunday, leading to a high-stakes investigation.

A detailed search uncovered 1.5 kg of gold, valued at ₹1.11 crore, hidden inside the lining of trolley bags carried by the male passenger. The gold was cleverly disguised as 15 silver-colored metal wires. The female passenger also attempted to smuggle gold in a similar manner, concealing four silver-colored metal wires inside her trolley bag lining.

In total, 1.9 kg of gold was seized, exposing yet another attempt at organized smuggling. The couple has been taken into custody, and authorities are now probing deeper into potential links to a larger smuggling network.
