Gangster’s Nephew Gunned Down in Delhi; London-Based Don Suspected Behind Attack

New Delhi:
A 30-year-old man named Deepak, the nephew of infamous Delhi gangster Manjit Mahal, was shot dead on Friday morning during a walk in the Bawana area. The incident occurred between 7 and 8 AM in Nagal Thakran village, where two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him.

Police suspect the attack was orchestrated by the Kapil Sangwan gang, led by gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, who is believed to be operating from London. Multiple rounds were fired at Deepak, killing him instantly. His daughter, who was walking with him, sustained a bullet wound to her hand but is reported to be out of danger.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers returned to the scene after the initial shots and fired again to ensure Deepak was dead. He reportedly sustained 7 to 8 bullet wounds, with the exact number to be confirmed through the post-mortem report.

Despite his family ties to Manjit Mahal, Deepak had no criminal record, police said. Locals described him as a soft-spoken, law-abiding resident with no links to gang activity. CCTV footage from the area shows the shooters riding a motorcycle around 6:12 AM, shortly after Deepak had left home for his walk. Villagers also reported seeing the assailants conducting reconnaissance in the locality for several days prior to the murder.

Family members believe the killing may be connected to a recent visit by Deepak’s mother to Manjit Mahal’s residence during a family wedding and mourning ceremony. Deepak leaves behind his wife and two children, aged 8 and 11. His wife has not yet been informed of his death.

Delhi Police have identified one of the attackers and are analyzing CCTV footage to track their movements. They emphasized that the motive behind the murder will only be established after the accused are apprehended.

The decades-long rivalry between Manjit Mahal and Kapil Sangwan’s gang has led to numerous killings, including the assassination of a BJP leader two years ago, allegedly at the hands of Nandu’s gang. A Red Corner Notice has been issued for Nandu, but he remains at large.
