Extramarital Affair Turns Deadly: Pregnant Woman and Lover Killed, Husband Critical in Delhi

A tragic love triangle in central Delhi ended in double murder and panic after a lover stabbed a pregnant woman in public, only to be killed moments later by her husband.

The incident took place in the Ram Nagar area on Wednesday night. Shalini, 22, a homemaker and mother of two daughters, was allegedly in a relationship with Aashu alias Shailendra, 34, a local criminal. Her husband, Akash, 23, works as an e-rickshaw driver.

According to police, Aashu claimed Shalini was carrying his child and was furious that she had chosen to return to her husband rather than stay with him.

The Attack

Shalini and Akash had gone to visit her mother near Qutub Road when the confrontation occurred. Aashu suddenly appeared and tried to stab Akash, who narrowly avoided the attack. Aashu then spotted Shalini sitting in an e-rickshaw and repeatedly stabbed her.

Akash rushed to intervene and was also attacked, suffering multiple stab wounds. In a desperate struggle, he managed to overpower Aashu, snatched the knife, and fatally stabbed him.

Shalini’s brother, Rohit, took the injured couple to the hospital. Police also brought Aashu there. Doctors declared both Shalini and Aashu dead on arrival. Akash remains in critical condition with multiple injuries.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan confirmed the sequence of events and said the incident sparked panic in the locality.

Investigations revealed that Shalini and Akash’s marriage had been strained a few years ago, during which time she began living with Aashu. The couple later reconciled and resumed their life together with their two young daughters.

Aashu was reportedly angered by Shalini’s decision to reunite with her husband. Police sources said he believed he was the father of her unborn child, a claim Shalini denied, insisting the baby was Akash’s.

Legal Action

Based on a statement by Shalini’s mother, Sheila, police have filed cases of murder and attempted murder. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, and further investigation is underway.

The brutal killings have unsettled the residents in the area, as officers work to piece together the chain of events and verify claims related to the pregnancy and motive.
