Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats: Students Behind Hoax Emails Seeking Delayed Exams

New Delhi:
In a startling revelation, Delhi Police has uncovered that at least three recent bomb threats sent to city schools were hoaxes orchestrated by students. Motivated by a desire to postpone exams or secure holidays, the students admitted their actions during police counselling sessions.
One of the targeted institutions, Venkateshwar Global School, received a threatening email shortly after a blast at Rohini Prashant Vihar PVR Multiplex on November 28. Upon investigation, the police traced the email to two siblings studying at the school. They confessed to sending the email, inspired by earlier bomb threat incidents, in an attempt to avoid exams.
Hoaxes in Rohini and Paschim Vihar Schools
Two other schools in Rohini and Paschim Vihar were also subjected to bomb threat emails, which were later found to be sent by their own students. These students, too, sought to disrupt school schedules for personal convenience.
In all cases, the police conducted thorough sweeps of the premises and declared the threats baseless. The students involved were counselled, and their parents were issued warnings.
A Growing Trend of Threats
Over the past 11 days, more than 100 Delhi schools have received bomb threat emails, triggering widespread panic. The perpetrators have used VPNs to send these emails, complicating efforts to trace them.
Since May this year, similar threats have been directed not only at schools but also at hospitals, airports, and airline companies in the capital. Authorities are working to address this alarming trend while ensuring public safety.
Impact on Communities
These incidents have raised concerns among parents, educators, and law enforcement. Schools and authorities are emphasizing the need for awareness and responsibility among students to prevent such misuse of technology in the future.
